December Top of the Month Club 2016

We dont have many roaring winters here at Three Waters Farm. Except for the occasional arctic blast or the rare snowstorm, frigid air and winter snow-scapes exist mostly within the realm of my imagination.
Nevertheless, this time of year, I am susceptible to the depictions of fanciful landscapes that abound on greeting cards - snow covered conifers, horse-drawn sleighs, long purple shadows, and spectacular winter sunsets. But above all, I love the illustrations that feature comfortable looking houses with golden light streaming from their windows, beckoning the weary traveler to warmth, safety, food, and happiness.
Have a wonder-filled holiday season and enjoy spinning our Winter Fancy!

Our wool this month is Finn. The micron count of this Finn is in the same 25 micron range as our BFL, so you can use it for both outer garments and for garments that are going to be worn closer to the skin. Finn has a satiny luster that gives the yarn an inner glow. The fiber itself is open and easy to spin and makes yarn with lots of body, whether your yarn is thick, thin, or in-between.

Our wool/silk blend this month is Merino/Bamboo/Tussah Silk, in a 50/25/25 combination. The wool and the silk take the color at different depths, and the bamboo doesnt take the color at all. Instead, it shines with a glistening, frosty glow which will give your yarn great sheen.

Our Tonal Companion Colorway this month is Ice Light. It will be available in the Etsy shop on Monday, November 28th. Until then, it is only available through the link in the shipping notice.
Happy Holidays!

Situated on a hill overlooking the Haw River, Three Waters Farm looks out over a mixed terrain of fields, woods, and water in the piedmont of North Carolina. We moved here in 1989 with the intent to raise our family on a working homestead. Initially we produced a mix of organic vegetables, cut flowers, goat cheese, and baked goods at the Carrboro Farmers' Market.
Since 1997, we have focused on making products from our sheep's wool and our goat's milk. We produce a variety of hand-painted yarns, and spinning fibers, and from our goat's milk, we make Goat's Milk True-soap, using our own special recipe.
