Description

IRREGULAR: This is not an actual dye lot photo. This fiber has shorter and more muted green bands, and the orange and hot pinks is more blended and in some cases, the bands are short. They are BEAUTIFUL, just not exactly as seen above! Fiber is first quality.

Hand dyed Falkland wool roving (combed top) for spinning and felting in Three Waters Farm colorway Racing through Puddles. Each braid weighs 4 ounces.

The first photo is two braids wound together; the next four photos are all of the same braid.

Falkland wool roving (combed top) 4 ounces. Approximately 26 microns, with a staple length between 4-6 inches, this wool feels much softer than its 26 microns would indicate. (It is similar to BFL this way.) The fiber is crimped but open, with lots of body and loft, which makes it easy to spin. Falkland will make a yarn with plenty of bounce and memory.

Situated on a hill overlooking the Haw River, Three Waters Farm looks out over a mixed terrain of fields, woods, and water in the piedmont of North Carolina. We moved here in 1989 with the intent to raise our family on a working homestead. Initially we produced a mix of organic vegetables, cut flowers, goat cheese, and baked goods at the Carrboro Farmers' Market.
Since 1997, we have focused on making products from our sheep's wool and our goat's milk. We produce a variety of hand-painted yarns, and spinning fibers, and from our goat's milk, we make Goat's Milk True-soap, using our own special recipe.
