    Description

The first photo is of two braids wound together; the next four photos are all of the same braid.

This colorway was created for the North Country Spinners, a spinning guild in northwest New Jersey; they are celebrating their 35th anniversary this year!

Rambouillet sheep were developed in France by crossing merino stock with long-wooled sheep; they were introduced into the US in the mid 1800's. They thrive in the western rangelands of the United States, which is where this Rambouillet originates. Fine and springy like merino, this fiber will spin into a next-to-the-skin-soft yarn with plenty of bounce.

I have just finished my spin of this beautiful silk/BFL handpainted braid. It’s drapey and so lustrous, like a work of art. A little excess due runoff, so be sure to soak and rinse carefully. I think I’ll go treat myself to another braid of a different color way.

Situated on a hill overlooking the Haw River, Three Waters Farm looks out over a mixed terrain of fields, woods, and water in the piedmont of North Carolina. We moved here in 1989 with the intent to raise our family on a working homestead. Initially we produced a mix of organic vegetables, cut flowers, goat cheese, and baked goods at the Carrboro Farmers' Market.
Since 1997, we have focused on making products from our sheep's wool and our goat's milk. We produce a variety of hand-painted yarns, and spinning fibers, and from our goat's milk, we make Goat's Milk True-soap, using our own special recipe.
