What Are You Knitting Into Your Knitting?

What Are You Knitting Into Your Knitting?

This piece by Alice Wellinger really struck a chord with me. Part of knittings utility and charm is that it is such an excellent confidant. Knitting untangles thoughts and emotions while simultaneously uniting them into an excellent fabric a perfect fabric, complete with physical and spiritual imperfections.

I dont think we knitters think about this overly much, unless we are knitting a prayer shawl (where the stated purpose of both the act of knitting and the knitted product is to enfold the recipient with positive goodness) or unless we are knitting for babies (pure love made tangible.) Knitting for our other loved ones always seems a little more complicated, as there are always strands in those relationships to sooth, straighten and strengthen....

So, what are you knitting into your knitting?

Situated on a hill overlooking the Haw River, Three Waters Farm looks out over a mixed terrain of fields, woods, and water in the piedmont of North Carolina. We moved here in 1989 with the intent to raise our family on a working homestead. Initially we produced a mix of organic vegetables, cut flowers, goat cheese, and baked goods at the Carrboro Farmers' Market.
Since 1997, we have focused on making products from our sheep's wool and our goat's milk. We produce a variety of hand-painted yarns, and spinning fibers, and from our goat's milk, we make Goat's Milk True-soap, using our own special recipe.
